Let me tell you my crazy story about drinking green tea and the all the weight I lost. I use to weigh about 190 pounds before I started drinking tea. After drinking it for about 3 months, I lost 30 pounds. How easy is that? If I can do it, anyone can do it too, with a little effort.
There is always a catch, and here it is. In addition to drinking tea, I also gave up two of my favorite drinks. I quit drinking soda and coffee. Green tea contains caffeine and no sugar. I swapped my coffee in the morning for tea, and still had my caffeine. You can also purchase decaf tea, if you wish to not drink caffeine. For lunch I would drink water or iced tea instead of soda. So how does green tea help you lose weight?
One of the benefits of green tea is catechins and work as an antioxidant. What happens is the catechins increase your basal metabolic rate, hence you burn more calories throughout your day without doing any exercise. The other benefits of green tea are lowering bad cholesterol, fighting heart disease, and battling cancer.
Another step to losing the weight, was doing very simple exercises. I would go for speed walks for about 20 to 30 minutes. I would recommend jogging for greater results, but since some people have bad knees like myself, I prefer exercises that are easy on the joints. Once you increase your cardiovascular endurance, I challenge you to do jumping jacks, sit-ups, and push-ups.
In order to lose weight and burn fat, you must drink 4 to 5 cups of green tea. I would suggest drinking decaf tea in the evenings to keep you from not sleeping at night.
