The dentist is the first person you will consult when you have problems in between your teeth and gums. You should be taking different fields in science during your high school such as health, physics, biology and chemistry. This is a preparation for you in higher education.

You also take an admission exam. You have to pay your fees and schedule a date for the examination. Once you have passed the tests, you can already enter a dental school. Remember that you have to attend in an accredited college or university. The admission process includes interviews, recommendations and your grades.

You will be attending your institution for four years. You need to continue your education in microbiology, anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. You are also taught to treat patients in your school clinic. These clinical courses are important for other courses related to dentistry.

You also need to handle your time. If you have a time, you are also welcome to apply for a part time job in any dental clinics in your area. You will be appointed as an office assistant in the clinic. Here, you will learn several things about dentistry that are not taught in your classes.

Once you have completed your course, you can take a board exam. Your school will be the one to set your schedule for the examination. As part of your exam, you will be treating patients. After complying the requirements and passing the exam, you will be given a state license.

After passing the tests, you will be given certification as a licensed dentist. You can start your profession in many dental companies in your state. However, if you choose to begin your own firm, you need to comply with the requirements given to you such as hiring your staff. You also have a renewal process after a year.
