Exploring A Santa Cruz Dispensary

By Annabelle Holman

While most outlets in the Bay area follow legal State guidelines, many still have issues. Some have been closed, while others have flourished. Whether a Santa Cruz dispensary or a patient, individuals operating outside guidelines, especially with regards to growing and distribution can often face a number of criminal charges. There are legal and illegal ways to obtain medical marijuana in California.

When looking for a dispensary in Santa Cruz, the best bet is to call the local MediCann office. The MediCann registration system is one of the best as it is available 24/7. So, if a patient were to have an emergency need for patient verification, the agency can provide the information accordingly.

Patients, following local laws and guidelines are often okay. Others, who do not can often have difficulty if and when found in the possession of marijuana, medical or otherwise. It is also important that patients carry a California patient ID card at all times.

As Colorado and Washington voted for full legalization and California failed, it is still a blessing that Prop 215 has been in effect for so long in the State. Many legalization supporters are still in shock that the referendum failed to pass in 2012. It is now hoped by many that the legalization in Colorado and Washington has set a precedent in which it is hoped other States will follow suit.

Colorado and Washington are providing reports that the surplus is up and crime, down. It is hopeful that many others will follow suit. Only time will tell when it comes to whether marijuana will ever be legal again on a National scale. There are many who believe it should have never been made illegal in the first place.

Tobacco may still be more prominent in public than marijuana, though this seems to be changing. E-cigs are responsible for some of the absence of tobacco smoke in recent years. Overall, there are still many more whom smoke tobacco rather than marijuana. As many States are now putting E-cigs in the same category as tobacco in relation to smoking laws, there will most likely also strict guidelines when it comes to recreational use in public venues.

Medical and recreational use is already at an all high time. Over 50% of United States citizens believe it should be legalized. While this is the case, even Colorado and Washington are setting strict guidelines with regards to driving under the influence and use in public forums. So, while legal, there are still issues in which an individual can get in trouble.

While cannabis is less potent than alcohol, there are some intense strains. When consuming these strains, individuals should not drive or operate heavy machinery. Warning labels from medical dispensaries in California and other states which recognize medical marijuana make this clear. As with alcohol, individuals need to act responsibly when consuming it whether as a recreational drug, or medication.
